Environment Manager - River Thames Scheme
Environment Agency

Richard is the Environment Manager on the River Thames Scheme, a major infrastructure project proposed by the Environment Agency, Surrey Country Council and their partners. The RTS takes a landscape-based approach to address the challenge of flood resilience and supporting sustainable communities in Surrey. It will deliver a wide range of benefits including greater access to public open space, improvements to the active travel network and new areas of high quality habitat, as well as reducing flood risk to over 11,000 dwellings and 1,600 businesses. The RTS is the first project of its kind to require a Development Consent Order and is currently at EIA scoping stage. Richard is a Principal in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability team, and prior to working on RTS has over 15 years’ experience working with delivery partners to deliver EIA on a number of EA coastal flood risk management schemes along the south coast.
