Claire Wansbury is an award-winning ecologist. Claire is one of the UK’s top experts on biodiversity net gain, including having co-authored national good practice principles.  She is also a leading expert in Natural Capital Approach to land use planning.  With 30 years' experience, over the last decade Claire has been working with environmental economists and others to build a shared understanding of the value of benefits our natural world provides to people, our society and our economy.

Her project experience includes East West Rail 2, which is a trailblazer as it is the first project of its scale across the whole of the UK to have made a voluntary commitment to deliver a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain.  Claire and the project team are also piloting the latest approaches to assess how biodiversity net gain interventions can also deliver wider natural capital benefits, an approach government refers to as Environmental Net Gain.
