Katy is a Sponsor on the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a major, multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements which will bring better journeys for passengers and freight customers travelling across the Pennines between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.  In her role, Katy leads strategic initiatives to expand freight capacity across the corridor, aiming to unlock up to 15 additional freight paths per day. This work supports the growth of rail freight and connectivity to UK ports. The TRU Programme’s freight outcomes will contribute to a more sustainable transport network by improving air quality, reducing carbon emissions, and driving economic growth through enhanced regional connectivity.
