Helen McAllister is the GBRTT Programme Director responsible for the development of a reformed offer for rail freight in the UK. Her focus is on how rail industry reform can lead to economic growth in freight on rail in order to deliver UK strategic outcomes through improved logistics. The development of the Strategic Freight Unit within GBRTT brings together freight strategy, market development, R&D, policy, property and the reform agenda in order to deliver better for freight customers and end users.

Prior to taking on this role, Helen was Strategy & Planning Director at Network Rail where she led Network Rail’s network strategic planning portfolio (including freight) and the freight enhancements portfolio alongside other network wide outputs. Helen has worked in the rail industry for over 17 years working on cross industry strategic and business planning and working closely with internal and external customers.
