Richard is a Chartered Engineer with a wide range of engineering, project, and production management experience, gained over more than 40 years in the public and private sector railway industry in the UK and Overseas.

He has extensive experience in leading, defining and evaluating specifications and proposals for new rolling stock and associated maintenance plans and facilities.  He specialises in advising clients and project stakeholders on how to understand their rolling stock needs, evolve these into requirements, and engage with the rolling stock supply market to achieve effective fleet solutions.

Richard has supported a wide range of projects in the UK and internationally: establishing the Client’s needs before developing clear project requirements and performance specifications necessary for an efficient rolling stock procurement project.  Richard also incorporates his experience in rolling stock whole life care, including maintenance strategies and resources.  His procurement support experience extends into evaluation of rolling stock supply bids, maintenance concepts, acceptance inspections of new fleets, and systems integration between rolling stock and infrastructure.  He has also led the introduction of new train fleets for both rolling stock suppliers and Train Operating Companies.
