Miles has worked in the public and the private sectors and has a proven track record of delivering award winning major regeneration projects.  A Chartered Surveyor, Miles has worked in the property and development industry within Cornwall for 35 years.

Starting as a commercial property surveyor, Miles then moved to English Partnerships in 1995 and then later transferred to the Southwest RDA to deliver and fund regeneration, employment space and land development projects.  Working on projects such as; The Eden project, National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Falmouth University. In 2006 Miles went to Priority Sites Ltd a private sector developer delivering employment space projects throughout Cornwall.

In 2010 Miles joined the Cornwall Airport Team and led and progressed a major programme of investment to grow an aerospace cluster at the Airport. This culminated in the award of Enterprise Zone status in August 2011.

From 2017 Miles led the delivery of the £36m Spaceport Cornwall project the UK’s horizontal Space Satellite launch site a unique opportunity to be the first site in UK to launch a satellite to space.

Miles became CEO of Falmouth Harbour Commissioners in January 2021. FHC manage Falmouth Harbour in Cornwall, the third deepest natural Harbour in the world, Falmouth’s unique geography and position as the UK’s Atlantic Gateway, makes it a highly valuable port for a range of operators.  Falmouth Harbour is both a busy commercial Port, and the Harbour runs Falmouth Pilotage Service, but it also has a diverse leisure vessel offering. Falmouth Harbour manages 650 leisure vessel moorings and 100 berths for vessels on Falmouth Haven Marina, a Boat yard, a Slipway and Fuel Barge.
