Gianluca Maestri is Masterplan Manager at Heathrow Airport since July 2022, with a master's degree in Transport Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a Diploma in Airport Operation from Airport Council International. He has 10 years of experience in transport planning across the world, during which he spent several years developing capacity assessments and traffic impact studies for railway stations and international airports. Gianluca has spent 3 years at Heathrow Airport, during which time he has developed the airport’s cargo forecasting model and supported the production of short and long-term passenger forecasts through a backdrop of Covid-related uncertainty. Gianluca is currently involved in safeguarding and updating Heathrow’s masterplan to ensure it takes into consideration the environmental and technical challenges that have emerged since the COVID-19 pandemic. He leads the masterplan integration of multiple projects such as updating and developing the masterplan and preparing Heathrow for the introduction of future fuels.
