Mark is the head of railway strategy at the Rail Delivery Group where he works across the industry to improve the performance and planning of the railway.  He leads on sustainability within RDG and is a member of the Rail Industry Decarbonisation Taskforce - which has developed a vision for how the railway can fully decarbonise - and the Sustainable Rail Leadership Group.

Mark is helping to organise the rail industry’s presence at the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow in November.  This includes positioning rail as the backbone of a decarbonised transport network.

Prior to joining RDG in 2017, Mark worked at the Department for Transport.  Roles he held there included developing road vehicle safety standards, introducing new tax systems and incentives to encourage cleaner vehicles and developing the business cases for rail electrification schemes.
