Peter has worked on HS2 since 2009 and was appointed to HS2 Ltd in September 2010 to help formulate Government’s plans for highspeed rail. 

He is responsible for the management of the sustainability, environmental and town planning aspects of HS2 and has delivered HS2’s appraisals of sustainability, sound lab for consultation, the Phase One and Phase 2a Environmental Statements and has advised on the Design Vision and local Community and Business Funds. He has acted as a witness on behalf of the Secretary of State through judicial review proceedings and select committees in Parliament. His work has helped secure the Government’s case for High Speed rail before the Courts, achieve Royal Assent for Phase 1 - February 2017 and, through the Commons Select Committee, progress on the Phase 2a Bill currently in Parliament. 

Peter trained as a landscape architect and has over 20 years relevant environmental management experience in railway civil engineering, planning major projects including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (HS1), Thameslink Programme and the West Coast Route Modernization. In 2017 he was made a Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) in recognition of his leadership in driving sustainability in the rail industry.
