Stefan combines strategic thinking with pragmatic implementation advice drawing on his 35 years’ experience in rail. An economist holding an MBA, he is an experienced and commercially focussed railway business consultant with extensive global experience in railway project creation and appraisal, restructuring and reforming railways, rail strategy development and operational advice. 

From 2018 – 2023 Stefan worked overseas with Arup. After 2 years in Malaysia Stefan was based in Australia for nearly 4 years where he advised Australian clients including the South Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport on rail planning, the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning on MR5 and asset strategy, the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads on its relationship with Queensland Rail, Rail Projects Victoria on rail operational strategy supporting major project development  and the ACCC on its regulatory oversight of the national ARTC railway. 

In the UK before 2018, Stefan was a trusted advisor to a range of industry clients including the Department for Transport, Network Rail, the Welsh Government, Transport Scotland, local Passenger Transport Executives, Transport for the North, High Speed 2, the Office of Rail & Road and passenger rail operators. Most recently, he has been leading the provision of technical advice to a consortium bidding for the next Concession for the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link in South Africa.
