Richard is a solicitor and Principal Associate in the award-winning Planning team of Gowling WLG and works on major infrastructure projects across the country. 
 
Richard qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and is a member of the national infrastructure planning association, routinely advising promotors on large regeneration and nationally significant infrastructure projects involving the use of compulsory purchase powers and the settlement of compensation claims.   His experience includes acting for South Tees Development Corporation on their regeneration proposals for the former Redcar Steel Works covering 4,500 acres of land; representing National Highways (formerly Highways England) on Development Consent Orders for the M54 to M6 Link Road and A57 Link Roads; as well as acting on other Development Consent Orders comprising the East Midlands Gateway Rail Freight Interchange, the York Potash Harbour Facilities Order and the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal.   
 
In addition to the promotion of CPO and DCO projects, Richard advises claimants whose land is subject to compulsory purchase, representing individuals, companies, leading house builders and developers and he has also advised on compensation claims relating to HS2.
