Darren Thomas has over 35 years’ experience of civil engineering and is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers. He has served as a Gold/Strategic Officer in a Local Resilience Forum context and been involved in numerous significant committees and groups, across a range of fields, including being a Member of the UK Roads Leadership Group, Member of the Task Group set up to review Construction Excellence Wales  2010 report, ‘No Turning Back’, Member of the Cyfle Board (South West Wales Regional Shared Apprenticeship scheme), and nominated to serve as a member of the Wales National Flood and Coastal Erosion Committee. He has been involved in the delivery of over £400M of infrastructure and construction works since 2005 covering Ports, Highways, Construction, Coastal Protection and Land Drainage, Sustainability & Energy, Transport services, Regeneration and Waste & Environment. Darren has had significant input in energy and sustainability work, and Chaired the Officer Group of the South West Wales Corporate Joint Committee Energy Subgroup. He joined the Port of Milford Haven in February 2025 as their Head of Engineering.
