Cathryn is a senior associate in the planning and compulsory purchase team. She is an experienced planning, energy, highways and CPO lawyer who worked in local government prior to joining Burges Salmon.

Cathryn has extensive experience advising on a broad range of planning and compulsory purchase matters. This includes Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and compulsory purchase orders including compensation. She advises both promoters and objectors. Cathryn also works on projects promoting renewable energy including Developments of National Significance in Wales.

She advises on and negotiates complex planning obligations and infrastructure agreements for developments. Cathryn specialises in areas related to development: common land, open space, public rights of way and town and village greens.

She advises local authorities on the extent of their powers and duties, the interpretation of the limits of discretion and on their internal governance procedures.
