Colin has spent over 40 years in the Port industry having served his time within the civil engineering department of the Port of Blyth, working his way up into Port Operations management.  

After spending several years managing in Container Terminals within the UAE, Colin returned to Blyth and established Port Training Services as the Port of Blyth’s Training Division, which specialises in the education and training for the Port, Marine, Warehousing and Logistics sectors. Predominately in providing competency based training, through Port Apprenticeships and National Vocational Qualifications. 

As an active member of Port Skills and Safety, has assisted in developing the current National Occupational Standards, the port operative apprentice standard, plus the NVQ at level 2 in Port Operations and at level 3 in Port Supervision.
