Having studied Engineering at the University of Sussex, Andrew started his career in the aviation industry working for a couple of aero-engine businesses, during which time he became a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. In 2015 Andrew moved to Pullman Rail in Cardiff as Commercial Manager and managed a number of their heavy maintenance contracts. In 2019 he joined the then newly formed Transport for Wales soon after they had taken on responsibility for management of the Wales and Borders rail operation. In 2021 Andrew moved to his current role of Rolling Stock Strategy Manager which included responsibility for the projects to deliver the Mark 4 and class 230 fleets into passenger service. An important and growing part of his role is working up a strategy for the decarbonisation of the TfW operation, in line with Welsh Government targets, as a follow on to the introduction of the new fleets currently entering service.
