Jennifer Elevique is the Deputy Director within the Department of Transport responsible for the sponsorship of Rail’s Digital Signalling programme, which seeks to replace conventional with digital signalling. She also covers rail environment policy which includes looking at traction and non-traction decarbonization and sustainability; policy for Rail telecoms and also depots and stabling.

She joined DfT’s Rail group 7 months ago, previously being Head of Finance Business Partners for the DfT’s Roads, Devolution and Motoring Group managing its  £3.5Bn annual budget and providing financial advice to the policy teams for national and local roads, motoring, transforming cities, mobility, cycling and walking, and Covid interventions amongst other things.  Before that she was at the Ministry of Defence leading a team managing the £1.5bn annual budget for MOD’s Head Office. Other roles include scrutiny of some of Defence's large Information superiority and technology projects liaising with and providing advice to the MOD’s Investment Board, Ministers, Cabinet Office and HMT. She brings a multi-disciplinary approach to her portfolio utilising her accountancy, MBA and MSP experience.
