Mark has 30 years’ experience in the Railway industry as a Rolling Stock Engineer. His expertise includes Electrical Systems, TCMS, System Integration and Propulsion. Mark was employed by a major Rolling Stock Manufacturer for 22 years and had the responsibility as a senior design engineer on numerous projects including Electrostar, S stock (LU) and Crossrail.

For the past 8 years Mark has worked in consultancy and involved in train procurement, independent design reviews and technical analysis. Over the last 5 years he has been focussed on Rolling Stock projects related to decarbonisation and the modelling/research of battery electric and hydrogen as alternatives to diesel propulsion.  Whilst he believes electrification is the only solution for the key main line routes, he believes alternative traction systems will be required for the less utilised routes where the cost of electrification is prohibitive.
