As Ecosystem Director for Rail and Stations at the Connected Places Catapult, Alan leads the vision and strategy for the organisation’s rail activities. Alan creates programmes and partnerships that help connect those with innovative solutions to those who have addressable challenges.

Previously at CPC, Alan led involvement in collaborative research including with automated vehicles - working closely with the DfT and BSI on standards, safety and simulation topics.

Before CPC, Alan led delivery of the safety case for the automated transit system at Heathrow airport,  led innovation projects for Jaguar Land Rover, and has applied systems thinking to better assess risk in the nuclear industry.  Alan has completed a EngD on novel transit systems, and is a chartered engineer (IET).
