Julian Fletcher currently leads the test programme for the GWR Fast Charge Battery Train Trial.

He has been heavily involved in this project from the start, heading up the design of the fast charge shoegear system, and leading a suite of battery traction proposals across a range of rolling stock.

Prior to entering the rail industry, he spent over 20 years at Rolls-Royce developing gas turbine engines.

He has a breadth of experience covering environmental impact assessment, feasibility of alternative traction and most recently, real world implementation of fast charge battery systems.

He takes decarbonisation seriously, bringing about change at home as well is in working life.
