Anitha Devadoss

Senior Research Fellow
Swansea University

Anitha Devadoss received her PhD in chemical sciences (2011) from Dublin City University, Ireland under the supervision of Prof. Robert J. Forster and Prof. Tia E. Keyes. Later, she was a Brain-Korea-21 post-doctoral fellow (2011-2013) at Hanyang University, South Korea, where she worked on the development of hybrid nanomaterials for electrochemical biosensing applications. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the Photocatalysis International Research Center, Tokyo University of Science, Japan between 2014-2015. She moved to Swansea University, UK in 2015 and secured a Sêr Cymru II–MSCA COFUND Fellowship in 2017 to develop photoelectrochemical biosensors for early cancer diagnostics. Currently she is leading her research group on innovative nanobiosensors for affordable early point-of-care disease diagnostics. Anitha’s research is funded by Ser Cymru II fellowships (European commission and Welsh Government under ERDF), Innovate UK, EPSRC and Welsh government. She has published 37 research articles in internationally peer-reviewed journals and contributed 4 book chapters. She is an active STEM ambassador for Wales, UK and representing Athena SWAN, Race Equality & Diversity at College of Engineering, Swansea University. In the Swansea University’s centenary year celebration, Anitha has been recognised as one of the inspiring people!
