Elin Rhys

Host

A graduate biochemist from Swansea University, Elin started her career as a pollution officer in Welsh Water. After five years there, Elin went on to start a freelance career in the media, presenting and researching science based programming on TV and Radio, and then moved on to presenting programmes and documentaries including live events, in English and Welsh, and for a variety of channels including S4C, BBC Wales, BBC Schools, Channel 4 and HTV Wales.

In 1993 Elin established Telesgop in Llandeilo, and the company gradually grew from a tiny staff to an average of 30 full time (currently 28).  Telesgop makes magazine series and documentaries in science, history, agricultural current affairs, natural history, music and the arts, for S4C, BBC Wales, BBC Three, BBC Four, Channel Four, Discovery US and Animal Planet, as well as producing content for schools and commercial clients.

The company invests regularly in camera and editing equipment, and admits that it would never have moved forward twenty years ago were it not for an innovation grant from Phill Allen’s SMART Innovation team.
