Christian started his career as a transport planning officer for Bristol City Council where he was accountable for monitoring transportation utilisation and implementing a sustainable transportation strategy for the city.

Ignited by his passion for delivering sustainable transport solutions, Christian moved to Network Rail as part of their project management graduate training programme. In his 14 years in the rail industry, Christian progressed through the business delivering a multitude of rail investment projects, programmes and portfolios.

In 2020 Christian took on the transformative role of Industry Programme Director for the South West, where he led on behalf of Network Rail, the wider rail industry in partnership with local authorities, stakeholders and communities to develop and deliver an integrated rail investment plan for Somerset, Devon and Cornwall in order to transform opportunities for local communities and stimulate economic growth.

Christian now leads the Rail Investment Centre of Excellence, which is committed to working with Government and industry partners to transform how rail investment is delivered through the role out of initiatives such and Minimal Viable Product and SPEED, driving best practice and efficiency across Network Rail and the wider rail industry for the benefit of industry passengers and freight customers.
