Jabulani Nyathi

Consultant - Renewable Fuels & Energy Systems
Ricardo

Jabulani is an engineering consultant holding a masters in ‘Engineering for Sustainable Development’ and honours degree in chemical/process engineering. He has a deep understanding of unit operations and design, with his bachelor’s thesis having looked at kinetic modelling of CO2 hydrogenation or CO2 fischer tropsch to produce green hydrocarbons. Jabulani’s focus at Ricardo is on renewable fuels in the context of climate change mitigation and system decarbonisation, particularly transport and industry. His work has included considering the full supply chain (from production to consumption) of hydrogen and other fuels such as ammonia and methanol.

Some examples of work he has been involved in includes a feasibility study into decarbonising shipping in South Africa, Indonesia and Mexico, a study on port energy modelling to build the business case for water-side and land-side decarbonisation and mapping hydrogen demand for various transport modes in Scotland. He has supported work for UK Department of Transport, Scottish Enterprise, Environmental Defense Fund and the Energy Systems Catapult, amongst others.
