Chris Endacott

Fleet Consultant
Welsh Government Energy Service

After graduating from Salford University, Chris’ early career involved the environmental impact assessment of pesticide use and included periods working for ICI, Bayer, Shell and Ciba-Geigy.  Following the completion of his PhD at Imperial College, Chris spent a period in scientific journalism working for Reed Elsevier group before moving back to the environmental sector.

In 1994 Chris joined the environmental consultancy Aspinwall and Company Ltd and was given SMT responsibility for the fleet of over 200 vehicles which included landfill drilling rigs.  The company introduced an award winning “Green Fleet” policy in 1997 which reduced carbon emissions and costs.

In 2001 Chris left Enviros Aspinwall to establish the sustainable transport consultancy Gfleet and has worked with the Energy Saving Trust since 2002 and WGES since 2019.  In recent years Chris has specialised in decarbonising road transport and, with colleagues, has developed robust methodologies for assessing the opportunities to introduce ultra-low emission vehicles - usually but not exclusively battery electric - into fleets and determine the charging or refuelling infrastructure required.  Alongside fleet consultancy Chris also runs a course to train GHG and Energy auditors and contributes to a Masters course in Sustainability at UCL.
