Dr Kate Hamilton

Programme Director
Renew Wales

Kate is Programme Director of Renew Wales, an innovative programme hosted by the Development Trusts Association for Wales which facilitates community action to reduce carbon footprints, adapt to the impacts of climate change and live more sustainably.

She has worked on sustainable and equitable human development throughout a career which has encompassed programme delivery, policy development and academic research in international development, and more recent work in Wales on the wellbeing of future generations – including working for the Future Generations Commissioner, building evidence and practice around using woodlands for wellbeing with Coed Lleol, and teaching lifelong learners how to develop sustainable landscapes, systems and communities for Aberystwyth University.

On a personal level she is passionate about people’s voices being heard in all the places where power is exercised, and also a firm believer that it’s eminently possible for everyone on earth to live good and equal lives whilst respecting planetary limits and nurturing nature – but only if we go about it in thoughtful and urgent enough ways.
