Paul joined Caerphilly County Borough Council in 2005 as Sustainable Development Co-ordinator and has been their Senior Policy Officer since 2016.  He manages a team with a variety of responsibilities from co-ordinating the work of the PSB and embedding Well-being of Future Generations Act across the organisation, to the Syrian Resettlement Programme, Armed Forces Covenant, and Brexit!  He has considerable experience of putting sustainability into action in the public, private and voluntary sectors.  

He is a qualified Landscape Architect and ran his own landscaping company for 8 years before moving to South Wales to work for a regeneration charity.  He has a Masters Degree in Environmental Management, is a qualified environmental auditor and managed the “Green Dragon” Environmental Management programme for 3 years.  

Outside work he is a keen footballer and cyclist.  He aspires to being self-sufficient growing much of his family’s own food, keeping bees, and has recently set up an aquaponics system.

Caerphilly County Borough Council led on a Gwent-wide fleet review programme and successful bid for OLEV funding.  The authority has an agreed Electric Vehicle Strategy and recently set ambitious targets to move its fleet to electric vehicles as part of its commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
