Geraint Jones

Forestry Technical Officer
Farming Connect

Raised and now farming on an upland livestock holding in Llanfair Talhaiarn Geraint has worked in agriculture and forestry sectors for over 40 years.

After graduating from college he joined Gwynedd Council to manage Glynllifon Tree Nursery and supplied trees to farmers and foresters throughout North Wales. An opportunity to join Coed Cymru was taken in 2003 as the Woodland Officer serving Conwy County and Snowdonia National Park which led to a close working relationship with landowners and foresters for whom he planned and implemented numerous successful environmental projects around the county whilst forging and strengthening the local supply chain.

In late 2016 Geraint joined Menter a Busnes and the Farming Connect Team as the Forestry Technical Officer for Wales. His role is to work with Farming Connect’s demonstration network to facilitate knowledge transfer for farmers and foresters on a wide variety of topics from seed to saw. Whilst aiming to support businesses to develop and increase efficiency and profitability, Geraint helps the sectors identify opportunities for future environmental and economic prosperity.
