Ian is the development manager at the Welcome to our Woods project's social enterprise based in Treherbert. The not for profit enterprise was created by the Welcome to our Woods Partnership in 2014, to deliver a greater social impact and together explore opportunities around a local wood supply chain and a range of other sustainable community benefiting ecosystem services in the Upper Rhondda Valley South Wales.  

Welcome to Our Woods is a community led organisation that has: - Operated as an inclusive and successful partnership for over a decade - Led a local conversation about climate change and community landscape management - Successfully established: a 29kWh micro-hydro scheme, a community hub building and wood craft workshop, community woodland management and coppicing programmes on the Welsh Government Estate, a social prescribing outdoor activity programme, a Pay as you Feel cafe, food growing and food waste interception projects, youth woodland projects including arson reduction programmes.
